Cole Roberts leads the energy and resource sustainability business in Arup’s San Francisco office. Specializing in design, planning, and consultation in the new and existing built environment, Cole has led dozens of projects to successful LEED® certification and ZNE achievement, including numerous platinum and gold awards. His work beyond the scale of individual buildings, from climate positive communities, integrated infrastructure plans, and energy and climate policy is recognized as unconventional, inspiring, and synergistic. Cole has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences, an invited speaker to the World Business Council on Sustainable Development, and a published contributor to conferences, mainstream media, and peer reviewed journals. He is a frequent guest lecturer at Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. He recently co-authored the book “Two Degrees – Our Built Environment and the Changing Climate” with chapters on climate adaptation, the psychology of choice, and climate positive communities (among others). |

Why Design New Buildings With Old Data? Please join Cole Roberts of ARUP for a discussion on future climate and weather data based on the work ARUP and Argos Analytics have been doing on the WeatherShift™ application. Architects, planners, and engineers currently rely on historical weather data to predict how buildings and infrastructure will perform. Due to climate change, this data is quickly becoming obsolete. Arup and Argos Analytics have used the most up-to-date global climate models available to produce the WeatherShift application. They can now generate the data needed by building designers and planners to understand how the climate is likely to change for cities in the coming decades - allowing all of us to design better performing, more comfortable, and resilient buildings and infrastructure.
