Meet our featured member, Brian Chacon, a HVAC professional with Ascent HVAC who is actively involved in ASHRAE and the broader building industry community. How long have you been involved with ASHRAE in years? Describe the roles or capacities in which you are involved with ASHRAE.
I have been involved with ASHRAE for 11 years, having served as Membership Promotion Chair, a variety of Board Positions, Chapter President, CRC Chair, and a part of the Golf Event Committee.

What has been your favorite ASHRAE memory, event, or experience, and why?
CRC 2025, it took a village to host the event but to see everyone having fun, networking, and learning after the years of planning was incredible!
How has your involvement with ASHRAE influenced your career and personal growth?
My involvement with ASHRAE has played an important role in my professional growth. It has helped me stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies while also expanding my professional network and connecting me with peers and industry leaders. Through volunteering and chapter involvement, I’ve strengthened my leadership, technical, and communication skills. ASHRAE has reinforced the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and giving back.
What initially drew you to ASHRAE, and what has kept you engaged over the years?
I was initially drawn to ASHRAE to connect with colleagues in the industry and expand my professional network. Over time, the genuine friendships I’ve built and the ongoing opportunity to learn and grow have kept me actively engaged.
What is one key piece of advice you would offer to young professionals entering this field?
Stay curious and never stop learning. The HVAC industry is constantly evolving, so take advantage of opportunities to ask questions, seek mentorship, and get involved in organizations like ASHRAE. Building strong relationships early in your career is just as important as developing technical skills.
