UMC 2027 Proposed Code Changes

Hi All,
Proposed changes to UMC 2027 include modifications to section 602.1 on the requirements for materials used for duct systems, which would prohibit the use of concealed spaces as return air plenums. This proposed change would have a major impact on construction costs, energy efficiency, operating costs, design flexibility with no proven health or security benefits. The proposed change lacks justification and conflicts with a published ASHRAE Journal article and other research papers.
